A Roundup (February and March 2024)
A collection of podcast and reading recommendations, cool people or projects I have found online recently, any new tools or tips, and some personal updates.
Howdy! Each month I post a roundup post like this one sharing the best reading, podcasts, projects, and people I’ve discovered from my month. This one covers the coolest stuff I’ve found in the last 60 days and is a tad longer than usual since it covers February and March.
Podcasts
1.) Jack Antonoff, Zane Lowe
A very open conversation about creativity, spaces, and life in general.
2.) Tim Ferriss Mini-Roundup
Tim Ferriss has been on a roll lately! Here are a few recent episodes that were delightful to listen to:
Hugh Howey, author of Silo - recommended for anyone interested in writing, especially if you are curious about self-publishing and other novel approaches to publishing your work.
Claire Hughes Johnson - recommended for people looking to do great work with a team, especially leaders on their teams.
Seth Godin, prolific blogger + marketing whiz - recommended for internet writers and those weaving together ideas in any domain.
Soman Chainani, fiction author and amateur comedian - this was a truly delightful conversation that feels like dropping in on a private chat between great friends. They try a new style of interview where they prep 9 note cards ahead of time and tackle them one by one.
3.) Jacob Collier, Colin & Samir
Dispelling the myth of the savant and discussing the creativity maze of pulling ideas into reality.
4.) Patrick Collison, Dwarkesh Podcast
Everyone ought to know about what Patrick is up to.
5.) Alex Komoroske, Infinite Loops (Jim O’Shaughnessy)
A mind expanding conversation about systems thinking.
Reading
1.) Zen in the Art of Writing, Ray Bradbury
A treasure for any aspiring dreamer, poet, writer, or artist.
"We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out."
2.) Gathering Structures, Maggie Appleton
Tips on organizing a gathering.
3.) The map room is a physical room-size wiki for collaboration from the 1950s, Matt Webb
4.) Long Distance Thinking, Simon Sarris
